CPD Video Conversations from Shanghai Expo Features the Japanese Pavilion

On September 7, the USC Center on Public Diplomacy's research team in Shanghai released a video conversation focusing on the Japanese pavilion. In this video, the CPD research team interviews the pavilion's Commissioner General, Hiroshi Tsukamoto.

Japan’s soft power seems to derive from the country’s ability to achieve a delicate balance between modernity and tradition. In the video, Mr. Tsukamoto discusses how Japan presents itself as "hi-tech" and "cool, beautiful" at the Shanghai Expo. He also shares thoughts on the expo as a venue for public diplomacy.
