New Release: AFRICOM Media Monitor Report

Today, the USC Center on Public Diplomacy released its latest Media Monitor Report on AFRICOM - AFRICOM's Still Undefined Future. The report ponders the future of AFRICOM and suggests that the appropriateness of a primarily hard power entity, such as the Defense Department, assuming soft power responsibilities needs to be debated further. The report was written by CPD Director Philip Seib.

This CPD Media Monitor tracks the public diplomacy mandate of the United States' newest military command in Africa, AFRICOM. Updated regularly, the Monitor provides a window into the local African coverage as well as the global perspective on the subject. It is part of a long term focus on AFRICOM by the Center on Public Diplomacy and the USC Annenberg School for Communication.
