Trump's "Topsy-Turvy" Approach to North Korea

On October 10, CPD brought together leading experts in public opinion and public diplomacy for the event Why Public Diplomacy Matters on the Korean Peninsula, a panel discussion to broaden our understanding of critical issues on the Korean Peninsula.

Ambassador Mark Minton discussed the public dimension of relationships in the region, such as the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, and how the Trump Administration bypassed traditional denuclearization talks with North Korea in favor of the highly publicized summit with Kim Jong-un, with another possibly on the horizon.

“This diplomacy is happening in public more than it’s happening in private,” Minton remarks. "Why is this happening so differently this time?”

Below, listen to this episode of CPD's Public Diplocast, which features Minton's presentation.
