A group of Japanese college students made a rare visit to Pyongyang in late August — just before North Korea conducted its fifth nuclear test on Sept. 9 — for talks on war and peace with local students. [...] The student-to-student program was initiated in 2012 by a group of Japanese nongovernmental organizations. Among them was Tokyo-based Relief Campaign Committee for Children, Japan, which conducts cultural exchanges.
Vice President Chen Chien-jen praised participants of the 2016 International Youth Ambassador Exchange Program Oct. 15 for their outstanding performance and contributions to Taiwan’s public diplomacy during an event at New Taipei City’s National Taiwan University of Arts.

The theme of the art exhibition is Art Makes the Olympics Even More Beautiful and is a way of rounding off the games and celebrating sportsmanship and cultural reunion through art. It also makes up a part of the larger Year of China-Latin America-Caribbean Exchange which is an initiative that was born after a meeting with the Chinese president Xi Jinping and the leaders of Latin America and the Caribbean in July 2014.

Leaders from Buddhist bodies in South Korea, China and Japan have expressed hope for peace and exchanges among the three Northeast Asian countries at an annual gathering in the eastern China city of Ningbo, a South Korean Buddhist organization said Thursday.
In his speech, Hilmar said that this carnival was held as part of activities of the WCF 2016 and served as a place to express the cultural diversity of each country. He said that the world would need more such forums to express the culture and cultural ideas. "The key message is that diversity is part of human life, and culture is our strength to be united and making friendship in the world," he said.
