Starting next September 50 students and 10 faculty members from China's Ningxia University will study for nearly a year at Missouri State University to burnish their agricultural, English and teaching skills. 

A University of Kansas professor has taken part in an exchange between North Korean and American scientists that shows science and empathy toward another’s worldview can be the first step in thawing icy diplomatic relations.

The first forum of Cooperation between Universities in Sudan and Turkey was convened in the framework of reinforcing the scientific and cultural relations between the two countries.  It targeted active participation in achieving the renaissance and qualifying teaching staff members and students in the Universities.

Like many students in Japan, Kim Yang Sun cycles to school each morning. Unlike most, she then changes into a traditional Korean outfit and studies under portraits of former North Korean leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

"Education and cultural diplomacy is the only way forward to strengthen relationship between the SAARC countries. We should, therefore, like to have focused university to university linkages between our countries for mutual capacity building in education, research technology and innovation," Irani said.

The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and PBS LearningMedia will host a series of blended online and in-person conversations about ancient civilizations with high school students, the first of which will take place on Wednesday, October 22.
