In a joint statement released last week, President Barack Obama and President Felipe Calderón announced a new exchange program for high school students designed to promote mutual understanding between the two countries.

Beijing China and the US agreed to expand their students exchange programme to facilitate one lakh American students to study in this country and increase the number of Chinese doing research in the US over the next four years.

Public Diplomacy Country Coordinator at the Bureau of East Asia and Pacific Affairs of the US Department of State, Rhonda Ferguson-Augustus, told The Brunei Times that the department is interested in developing educational exchanges between the two countries.
