Tanzania and the United Kingdom's Department for International Development (DFID) have announced a four-year, 100-million-shilling ($60 million) initiative to upgrade Tanzanian schools.

During an official visit designed to show Beijing's interest in improving relations with its neighbour, Mr Wang emphasised that the two countries see eye-to-eye on most issues.  China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi has promised his country's support to help India improve its economic development.

Myanmar's president called Thursday for more investment and development assistance from the Philippines, saying his country needs help to catch up with the rest of Southeast Asia after emerging from nearly two decades of economic sanctions. President Thein Sein's visit represents a milestone in relations with the Philippines, one of the harshest critics of Myanmar's former ruling junta.
