A hashtag expressing solidarity for the Jewish population of France is gathering traction on Twitter.  #JeSuisJuif began trending shortly after it was revealed a second siege was unfolding at a Jewish supermarket in Paris.

On a train, one passenger reportedly spotted a Muslim woman removing her hijab, ostensibly out of fear of being targeted. The passenger told her to put it back on and offered to walk with her in solidarity. And so began #IllRideWithYou. The hashtag went viral and is currently still trending worldwide, hours after the end of the hostage crisis.

Australians have banded together on Twitter with #IllRideWithYou, a hashtag showing their solidarity with fellow countrymen scared of being attacked on public transportation. 

This map tracks mentions of the hashtags #TortureReport and #CIAReport immediately before and after the release of US Senate inquiry into interrogation techniques used by the CIA. 

The campaign asks that people take a picture of themselves, waving the South Sudanese flag; post it on facebook with the hashtag #waveSouthSudan; add reasons why they are proud of South Sudan;  and encourage a friend to do the same.

Users started a heated hashtag battle after Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged fire across the Kashmir Line of Control (LoC).  The recent violence forced tens of thousands of villagers from both sides of the LoC to flee their homes and has resulted in at least 14 civilian casualties.

The Twittersphere and social media is abuzz in the Arab-Muslim world, this time over what conservative clerics say is a controversial practice of hajj pilgrims to Mecca taking “selfies” with their smartphone devices.

The group, the Active Change Foundation, a community organization in East London, began a campaign this month built around the Twitter hashtag #notinmyname, which has denounced the beheading of the British aid worker David Haines and other brutal acts committed by the radical group Islamic State.
