Ragnhild Louise Muriaas is Professor of Political Science in the Department of Comparative Politics and Deputy Dean of Research in the Social Science Faculty at University of Bergen in Norway. She has served as an associate senior researcher at the Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) in Bergen (2015-2017) and a visiting scholar to the University of California, Berkeley (spring 2010). She is project leader of Money Talks Gendered Electoral Financing in Democratic and Democratizing States funded by the Research Council of Norway (FRIPRO, 2016-2020). Muriaas has extensive field experience from Cape Verde, Malawi, South Africa, Uganda and Zambia. Her work has appeared in Comparative Political Studies, Political Studies, International Political Science Review, Democratization and Journal of Modern African Studies. With Lovise Aalen, she co-authored Manipulating Political Decentralization: Africa's Inclusive Autocrats (2018: Routledge). Muriaas is a Malawi country expert for the V-DEM project.
