Jack is interested in the intersection of politics, communication technology, and gender, employing mixed methods. Previously he worked on projects examining psychological well-being and social media use, selective self-presentation on dating apps, and lay theories of investment of young people. His M.Phil. thesis explored how media inoculation affects the way individuals respond to political criticism against their country in a transnational context. Currently, Jack is working on the effects of political disagreement and selective exposure on polarization.

 

Jack received two bachelor’s degrees, B.B.A.in Integrated Business Administration and B.S.Sc. in Journalism and Communication, both with First Class Honours as well as an M.Phil. in Communication from Chinese University of Hong Kong. Before moving to Hong Kong, Jack was born and raised in a small town of Sichuan province, the hometown of the panda and chilly hotpot.
