Julie Duhaut-Bedos is a seasoned diplomat with a career spanning more than 20 years across five countries. As Consul General of France in Los Angeles (2020-2024), she has been a driving force in strengthening French-American relations, forging high-impact partnerships in culture, education, science, and business. A dynamic advocate for cross-border collaboration, she has leveraged her extensive network—spanning political leaders, CEOs, thought leaders, and cultural institutions—to cultivate meaningful exchanges between France and the United States.
Throughout her tenure in Los Angeles, Duhaut-Bedos has championed innovative initiatives, including the launch of the Villa Albertine Los Angeles, a residency for artists, and the expansion of The American French Film Festival, reinforcing the presence of French culture in Hollywood. She has played a pivotal role in supporting French and American scientific collaborations while spearheading economic diplomacy efforts that led to the establishment of a Business France office in Los Angeles. Most recently, she has played an active role in facilitating the exchange of expertise between Paris and Los Angeles in preparation for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Prior to her tenure in Los Angeles, Duhaut-Bedos served as Deputy Ambassador at the French Embassy in Australia, where she played an instrumental role in shaping France’s Indo-Pacific strategy and deepening bilateral cooperation. She has held influential roles in embassies in Canada and Tunisia and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Paris, contributing to critical diplomatic missions, crisis management efforts, and high-stakes visits.
A compelling public speaker and community champion, Duhaut-Bedos is deeply committed to mentorship, fostering inclusive leadership, and advancing women in diplomacy. She has served on multiple boards and is an active member of Los Angeles’ vibrant diplomatic and business communities.
Fluent in French, English and Spanish, with proficiency in Arabic, she holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from Sciences Po Paris and a Bachelor’s in History from Aix-Marseille University. She has been awarded the distinction of Knight in the French National Order of Merit and honored by the City of Los Angeles, the City of Beverly Hills, and the Los Angeles Police Department for her contributions to cultural, economic and subnational diplomacy.
