Neftalie Williams is a lecturer at USC teaching ASCJ 420: Skateboarding and Action Sports in Business, Media and Culture. His main area of research is how skateboarding acts as a tool for cultural diplomacy, and the intersection of trans-national networks and global construct identity formation. His other areas of study include gender relations and minority identity/visibility within the media and in action-sports. He is also the Chairman of Cuba Skate, an NGO designed to promote cultural exchange between the U.S and Cuba through action sports Culture. Neftalie is the recipient of the 2016 USC Black Alumnus Award for his contributions to skateboarding diplomacy worldwide. His thought on the role of skateboarding diplomacy has been featured in PBS News Hour, The Atlantic, Epóca Magazine and the Washington Post.
