Mark Magnier was a foreign correspondent with the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times and Journal of Commerce for over two decades based in China, India, Japan and Singapore. He also did various crisis-reporting stints in Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan, among others, camped with goats under Saddam Hussein’s highway bridges and lived for weeks in an abandoned nunnery in East Timor. He’s now based in Washington with the South China Morning Post.
