2013 CPD Summer Institute in Public Diplomacy
The year 2013 marks the eighth annual Summer Institute in Public Diplomacy. This innovative, collaborative two-week training program run by the USC Center on Public Diplomacy at the Annenberg School allows professionals to immerse themselves in the increasingly critical study of public diplomacy. The Summer Institute is designed to equip mid-career practitioners with tools to better understand the role of public diplomacy, analyze the impact of new communication technologies and employ innovative approaches for improving the image and impact of their country or organization in the world.
This intensive two-week course is taught by some of the world’s most distinguished public diplomacy experts and covers traditional areas of cultural diplomacy, international exchanges, and advocacy to the most current topics in the field such as digital diplomacy, ideology, diasporas and nation/place branding. In addition to the foundational academic theories of public diplomacy, the 2013 Summer Institute includes special courses on crisis communication, regional issues in public diplomacy, corporate social responsibility, evaluation, and non-state actors. Graduates receive an invaluable two weeks of instruction and collaboration with their peers from around the world.
