Dr. Mark Kristmanson was CPD’s 2011 Canada-U.S. Fulbright Visiting Research Chair in Public Diplomacy. He served as CEO of the National Capital Commission in Ottawa from 2014 to 2019. Currently preparing a study of three ‘incipient’ capitals, Edinburgh, Québec and Barcelona, he is the author of Plateaus of Freedom: Nationality, Culture and State Security in Canada, 1940-1960 (Oxford University Press, 2003) and A Diary of Canadian Biography (2022).

While at CPD, Dr. Kristmanson conducted research on "Dimensions of City Diplomacy".
