Italian Embassy Keen on Cultural Exchange

Organised by the Department of Tourism, Government of Assam, in association with the North East Writers’ Forum, with an aim to promote tourism as well as the rich literary tradition of the State, the three-day literary extravaganza will facilitate a cultural exchange and interaction among the writers of Italy and those of the region. A group of writers from Italy, including Sergio Scapagnini who is a well-known Italian film producer, are here to attend the festival.

While western media coverage of North Korea's Kim Jong-un is rightly critical, a recent video uploaded to YouTube is making people question the treatment of our own unelected head of state. [...] While it does not exactly offer the perfect comparison in terms of the two regimes, it does arguably highlight an uncomfortable truth about idolisation.

India Day to Showcase Academic Research and Cultural Performances

India Day will showcase academic achievements by Indian students, professors and those studying the country. Just four days after Republic Day, the second half of the event will commemorate the 67th anniversary of the new constitution. [...] during India Day, cultural performances by Bal Sabha Group will be showcased. The organization also plans to honor both Indian and American culture by playing the respective national anthems.

Jeju Governor Calls for ‘Energy Peace’ at Anniversary Event

Corruption Perception Index

2015 showed that people working together can succeed in fighting corruption. Although corruption is still rife globally, more countries improved their scores in 2015 than declined. Some countries have improved in recent years – Greece, Senegal and the UK are among those that have seen a significant increase in scores since 2012.

Culture Posts: Between Image and Identity

 The most effective PD initiatives may well be those that favorably align image, state-centric identity and public-centric identity. Aggressive efforts to promote a positive image that neglect a negative public-centric identity of the state may invite trouble. Activists are often the first to exploit gaps between state-centric and public-centric identity.
