First Lady Michelle Obama was in Milan, Italy last week for the World Expo, a six-month public diplomacy mega-event that brings together more than 140 countries from around the world. The theme for Expo Milan 2015 is "Food: Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life," a topic that resonates with the First Lady's Let's Move campaign, an initiative that promotes healthy living and nutrition for Americans.
While in Milan, the First Lady visited the U.S. Pavilion, "American Food 2.0: United to Feed the Planet," where she spoke about the successes of the Let's Move initiative, and discussed what the United States could learn from other countries, "because no matter where we live, we all want healthy, nutritious foods for our families." Expo Milan 2015 began in May and will continue through October.
