Obama, Putin Meet at UN General Assembly

On Monday 28 September, more than 150 world leaders gathered in New York City for the 70th session of the UN General Assembly. Monday’s speakers included presidents Xi Jinpeng (China), Hassan Rouhani (Iran), Vladimir Putin (Russia) and Barack Obama (U.S.), each of whom voiced their own diplomatic priorities and interests on global hot topic issues including ISIL, Europe’s migrant crisis and the conflict in Syria. Although Obama and Putin disagreed on how best to handle the crises in Syria and the Middle East, both countries agreed that cooperation would be essential to “stamp out ISIL.” As this video demonstrates, compromise, dialogue and both bilateral and multilateral partnerships are key to addressing the world’s most pressing issues.
