CPD Board member Marc Nathanson and his wife Jane were honored on July 7 by the Aspen Institute Socrates Program for creating the Nathanson Public Diplomacy Scholarship and for their longtime support.
For 22 years, The Socrates Program has been bringing together emerging leaders from a wide range of geographic and professional backgrounds to engage in text-based, expert-moderated Socratic dialogues on contemporary topics to build ethical and values-based leadership. Through the Nathanson Public Diplomacy Scholarship Fund, more than 30 accomplished PD professionals have joined Socrates programs and taken part in seminars since 2016. The scholarship has provided these rising leaders with a dynamic opportunity for personal reflection, professional development and more diverse networks. Past Nathanson scholarship recipients have included Career Foreign Service Officers from the U.S. Department of State and journalists from Voice of America, Radio Free Europe, Radio Sawa and other international outlets.
