CPD Creates the William H. Luers Lecture Series on Iran and Public Diplomacy

The USC Center on Public Diplomacy inaugurates the William H. Luers Lecture Series on Iran and Public Diplomacy, which will begin with a lecture during spring semester 2013. Ambassador Luers, founding chair of CPD’s Advisory Board, has worked for many years to build a peaceful relationship between the United States and Iran. He has been director of The Iran Project, a non-governmental organization that seeks to reduce tensions and inform the public about the realities of the relationship between the two countries. His tenure as founding chair of the Center on Public Diplomacy Advisory Board, 2004-2012, has seen CPD expand its board membership and international reach.

During his career as a Foreign Service Officer, Luers served as U.S. ambassador to Venezuela (1978-1982) and Czechoslovakia (1983-1986). He later became president of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and president and CEO of the United Nations Association of the USA.
