“Public Diplomacy, New Media and Counterterrorism,” by CPD Director Philip Seib, was highlighted as “must read” for outlining the importance of public diplomacy as a part of the counterterrorism agenda. Though hard power is the most popular approach, mitigating terrorist recruitment numbers and supporters must include the element of engaging the public and steering them away from these negative influences.
