Romania Hosts NATO Exercise in a Virtual World

NATO is experimenting with virtual reality to bridge the gap between field and table-top exercises. The organization’s Euro Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) recently organized a joint training session with Romania to improve multilateral cooperation in times of crisis. Civilian and military personnel from 16 allied and partner countries worked alongside the Romanian emergency services unit to respond to realistic scenarios involving mass casualties and mass evacuation emergencies. This training was part of a pilot event designed to identify the challenges and key capabilities in civil-military cooperation.
