KEEP READING"In Search of Israeli Cuisine"
Filmmaker Roger Sherman wanted to change the way people think about Israeli food. In his new documentary, In Search of Israeli Cuisine, Sherman explored the country’s gastronomy with Chef Michael Solomonov, a member of Israel’s diaspora community in the U.S. who owns and operates the Zahav restaurant in Philadelphia.
The film’s trailer offers a glimpse of the multiculturalism inherent in Israeli fare. Solomonov points out the many cultures represented: “Yemenite, Palestinian, Iraq, Moroccan, Russian…I don’t even know how many countries are represented in one place.” Sherman’s film gives viewers the opportunity to see Israel as more than a country defined by conflict.
