U-Report: Creating Social Change

U-Report is a text-messaging platform that allows youth to comment on the issues that affect their lives. Users of this service, known as U-Reporters, provide information on their living conditions and rights by responding to polls on topics including climate change, education, female genital mutilation, and outbreaks of diseases. Data collected is used to advocate with policy-makers for change. Initially created by UNICEF Uganda, it has now spread to 22 countries around the world and increased its reach by partnering with national Scouts associations.
