U.S. Public Diplomacy in an Election Year

In this new CPD video, bipartisan members of the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy (ACPD) discuss the nation's upcoming presidential elections and what it means for U.S. public diplomacy efforts during a time of open, political contention. Accompanied by ACPD Executive Director, Katherine Brown and Senior Advisor Chris Hensman, the visiting commissioners, William Hybl, Sim Farar, Penne Peacock, and Anne Wedner shared their perspectives on the changing role of democracy, the success of exchange diplomacy, and the growing value of social media and digital diplomacy as a tool for influencing domestic and foreign publics. The event, held on January 14 was part of CPD's Conversations in Public Diplomacy series and was moderated by noted scholar and political analyst, Dan Schnur, Director of USC’s Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics.
