USC Center on Public Diplomacy to Kick Off 2010 Summer Institute

The USC Center on Public Diplomacy will kick off its 2010 Summer Institute in Public Diplomacy at the university July 19 and run through July 30.

Currently in its fifth year, the Summer Institute is an intensive two-week course designed to immerse participants in the critical study of public diplomacy by uniquely combining traditional classroom instruction with collaborative hands-on exercises.

“The significance of public diplomacy has grown exponentially during the past decade,” said CPD Director Philip Seib. “We will be building the future of public diplomacy during the Summer Institute.”

Taught by some of the world’s most distinguished public diplomacy experts, this exclusive program has garnered global attention and attracts participants of the highest caliber from a wide range of public diplomacy career fields including foreign ministries, intelligence and economics agencies, non-governmental organizations, international organizations, defense and homeland security, public relations, and the private sector.

This year, the Center expects 30 participants from 13 countries: Morocco, United Arab Emirates, United States, Brazil, Netherlands, Spain, Taiwan, Australia, Jordan, South Korea, Ghana, South Africa, and India.
