Cultural Diplomacy

The national capital is set to witness a convergence of top Jazz artistes from all over the world at 7th Delhi International Jazz Festival starting from September 23. Organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), the three-day music festival will be held at Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri here. The Jazz festival will bring together artists from India and countries like France, Israel, Korea, Mexico, Spain, Taiwan, and South Africa.

A senior delegation of UAE ambassadors has been welcomed by the Juilliard School, a performing arts conservatory. The visit came ahead of the United Nations General Assembly and reflected a shared interest between the UAE and the Juilliard School in the power of the arts in the development of society. During their visit, the ambassadors saw student performances and rehearsals, and reviewed manuscripts from the Juilliard Manuscript Collection, including the original score of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) is organizing a three-day international jazz festival that will witness the convergence of French, Israeli, Korean, Mexican and Spanish artists in Delhi. Festivals like these help us in understanding cultures of other countries and also gives opportunity to our own people to interact with world class performers," she said.

A forum themed “Vietnamese, Lao, Cambodian women foster friendly cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals until 2030” took place in Ho Chi Minh City on September 15. [...] Participants shared experience in improving women empowerment, particularly in economic and political fields, preventing women and child trafficking, promoting tourism and international cooperation, and educating young generations about the development of traditional friendship and collaboration among women in the three countries.

Days of Kazakhstan Culture in Belarus will be held in 2018, head of the main culture and analytics department at the Culture Ministry Vasily Chernik said at the international conference "Kazakhstan-Belarus: 25 years of diplomatic relations. [...] Belarus and Kazakhstan have been steadily developing cultural cooperation in line with the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in culture, science and education.

This week's stories focused on non-traditional public diplomacy tools.

Pupils across East Renfrewshire will be getting a helping hand with their language lessons, thanks to the arrival of teaching assistants from Germany, France, and Spain. A number of foreign students will spend the next year helping youngsters in the Barrhead area get to grips with another language. The project is being supported by the British Council, which is the UK’s international organization for educational opportunities and cultural relations.

Over 30 events are planned across the Derry City and Strabane District as part of this year’s Community Relations and Culture Awareness Week between 18th and 24th September. The aim of the Northern Ireland wide initiative is to engage with the public and urge them to consider and embrace the growing cultural diversity that exists in our local community.
