A grand and breathtaking gala performance by young artists and magicians from China's Sichuan Province officially opened the week-long Experience China-Sichuan Week in the Indian capital of New Delhi Tuesday evening. The performances are meant to reflect the diversity of styles present in both India and China.
“Kampala carnival is intended to build stronger relations, through cultural tourism and public diplomacy, between Uganda and Trinidad and Tobago; Uganda and the East African region and eventually Uganda and the rest of the world,” reads a statement from the organisers.
Members of the famous Mayurbhanj Chhau Group from Orissa, India are on their way to the West Indies for several performances and workshops from March 14 to 20. This is under the aegis of the High Commissioner of India, Malay Mishra and Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Cultural Cooperation.
"Indian cinema is very popular in Moscow and we love the imaginative dance choreographies in Indian movies. It is natural that the audience here will appreciate ballet," said Irina Kazaryan, head of the international department of the Grand Moscow Classical Ballet.
The ethnic cultural diversity of the South American nation of Ecuador came to life in the Indian capital with a colourful showcase of music and dances based on the indigenous folklores and social mores of the country.
The Brooklyn Academy of Music has been tapped to produce the first official year of DanceMotion USA, a cultural diplomacy project. The U.S. State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs worked with BAM on a pilot program this year that sent three U.S. dance companies to tour three regions of the world.
The group will depart the United States in late January to perform a pair of stage productions to an Indian audience. As part of the tour, the group will visit Delhi, Chennai, Ranchi, Trissur, Pondicherry, Hyderabad and Bangalore. In addition to performing, the group will teach dance classes.
A troupe of 50 Chinese disabled artists will have a special performance at the Hanoi Opera House on December 2. They will perform their worldwide famous dance entitled “Goddess of Mercy with hundreds of arms and thousands of eyes” and a dance play entitled “My Dream”, which have become famous worldwide.
