The International Olympic Committee has decided to reinstate India, officials say.

The move, which was announced early Tuesday, will allow the country's three athletes to compete in the Sochi Games under India's flag. Prior to the ruling, skiers Himanshu Thakur and Nadeem Iqbal and luger Shiva Keshavan were competing as independent Olympic participants.

Dr. Prabhjot Singh, a Columbia University assistant professor of international and public affairs who is also a resident physician in East Harlem in New York, is a practicing Sikh. As part of his faith, he wears an uncut beard and a turban. Last September, he was attacked not far from his home in Harlem by a group of young men who, while yelling “terrorist” and “Osama,” kicked and beat Singh, fracturing his jaw and dislodging some of his teeth.

A Twitter war broke out between the Indian minister Shashi Tharoor’s wife and his alleged mistress on Thursday over vague and melodramatic tweets from his account. The social media battle sparked after Tharoor’s account, allegedly hacked, posted emotionally dramatic messages accompanied by the Twitter handle of Pakistani journalist, Mehr Tarar.

Bringing the world to radio listeners in a unique format, All India Radio (AIR) will launch ‘India 360’ initiative this Republic Day, highlighting India’s bilateral ties with countries by presenting interesting facts and anecdotes. “We will cover all countries with whom we have diplomatic ties. This initiative will be a unique effort to connect the radio listeners with the world,” AIR Director General (News) Archana Datta said.

India moved Friday to oust a U.S. diplomat from the American Embassy here, hours after the departure from the United States of an Indian consular officer who was asked to leave after she was indicted on charges of visa fraud. What appeared to be a tit-for-tat action may lead to a calming of the month-long dispute that has roiled U.S.-Indian relations.

In an escalating diplomatic fight, India has demanded that US diplomats adhere to the country's traffic rules. On Wednesday, the Indian government also ordered the US Embassy in New Delhi to stop selling liquor and other duty-free goods to non-diplomats by Jan. 16. The moves are the latest retaliatory measures taken by India following the arrest of Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade on visa fraud charges in New York last month.
