The Embassy of Malta and the Culture Diplomacy Fund in cooperation with The Malta Film Commission organized on the 17 of June 2013 an event entitled ‘CineMalte – les possibilités d’une Ile’. This was the first time ever that such a cultural activity promoting the Maltese cinematographic industry was held in Paris.

Following the successful Joseph Calleja concert held last April, the Maltese Embassy in France will be organising 'Cine Malte: les possibilités d'une Ile' on 17 June. This event will be held at the beautiful 'Louxor - Palais de Cinéma', unique art déco hall, which has just recieved a major facelift by the City of Paris. This event will be among the very first to be organised at this location, which played an integral part in the Golden Age of Parisian cinema.

On 2 November, Maltese pianist Caroline Calleja performed in Washington D.C. to an audience that included members of the diplomatic community and music lovers. The concert was part of this year’s edition of the Embassy Series and took place at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia.

Dr Borg welcomed the opportunity to meet with the Maltese community in Luxembourg and referred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ efforts to reach out to all Maltese communities around the world. He also spoke about the amendments made to the citizenship law of Malta, which allowed second and third generations to obtain Maltese citizenship.

The Maltese Embassy in Tunisia is also committed to enhance relations between Malta and Tunisia through cultural diplomacy and humanitarian assistance, amongst others. The embassy’s political work is currently focused on the holding of the Annual Maltese-Tunisian Mixed Commission meeting which this year is due to be held in Tunisia.

As people in Santa Lucija, a village in the small island nation of Malta, look forward to its annual Chinese Film Festival this summer, the China Cultural Center in Malta has pledged to organize more cultural events this year to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Santa Lucija, the only Maltese village with a partnership with Jinchang district of Suzhou city in east China, began to offer its citizens a feast for their eyes in 2007 when it organized a Chinese film festival at the end of the summer.
