July marks the end of BirdLife Malta's 20-month Action for Nature project, an international exchange initiative that has seen a total of 84 youths and leaders participate from Malta, Hungary and Norway to improve the NGO's nature reserves as part of an environmental campaign.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry will this year spend €251,862.16 on development projects to impoverished countries. The money will be distributed across 12 different projects from local non-governmental development organisations (NGDOs) across Asia, Africa and South America as part of the government’s Official Development Assistance policy.

This February, Maltese-owned EC English Language Centres sent a team of eight enthusiastic EC staff volunteers hailing from all over the world, including South Korea, the UK, the US, Canada and Malta, to Ban Huoy, Cambodia, for a 10-day trip set up as part of the organisation’s most recent CSR initiative. In early 2016, EC approached the respected education charity, United World Schools (UWS), to improve the prospects of marginalised children in Cambodia.

In the run up to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting [...] This unique cultural initiative, the first of its kind since CHOGM started taking place in 1971, was presented by the CHOGM Malta 2015 External Culture Program bearing the theme Culture as Global Value. It was co-financed by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs through its Cultural Diplomacy Fund together with the Arts Council Malta.

Founded in 2011, Żigużajg International Arts Festival for Children and Young People has become one of the most anticipated happenings in Malta’s jam-packed cultural calendar. In essence, many assume it to be solely for children and teenagers but, while they are the target audience, the themes tackled in the plays, concerts and art exhibitions that make up Żigużajg can be both timeless and universal.

David Concar was in Malta visiting and viewing preparations for the upcoming CHOGM, mentioning that the Queen’s presence at the Heads of Government meeting emphasizes the importance of this CHOGM session.

The Maltese embassy in Washington participated in the Kids Euro Festival, organised by the EU delegation to the US, with a show from More or Less Theatre.

A U.S. Embassy staffer in Malta left the country on Wednesday after a video showing him going bonkers on another driver in the middle of a narrow road went viral. The American employee, apparently, confronted a Maltese driver who refused to pull over and let his car through. As traffic built up behind the driver, the American finally backs out of the road. And then, off camera, he continues to yell at the driver as traffic finally moves again.
