The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) in Vietnam and the Tourism Promotion Department of South Korea's Gyeongsangbuk-do Province organized an event promoting Gyeongsangbuk-do tourism in Ho Chi Minh City on October 26.

Nearly 100 young people in HCM City yesterday began their volunteer trip to neighbouring Laos as part of the “Red Holiday” and “Green Summer” campaigns launched by the city. [...] They will also present learning tools and scholarships to the two provinces’ youth unions, organise cultural and sports exchanges with local youths, and hand over a friendship house to the two provinces.

Art fans in Ho Chi Minh City should be pleased as four art exhibitions are taking place there, featuring artistic pieces of vivid hues and shades that convey different messages. Of these, 17 artists are showcasing 80 artworks in an art exhibition lasting between Saturday and June 12 at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts in District 1.

Ho Chi Minh City and the Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) will co-host the World Cultural Expo in November 2017, a biennial exchange to introduce cultures of participating countries [...] Visitors will be able to enjoy food, music performances, fashion shows, movies, and literature pieces as well as join trade and investment activities.

In June, Michael T. Sestak, a former cop and naval officer who went on to work for the US Foreign Service in Vietnam, was brought before a judge in Washington, DC on corruption charges. Sestak was allegedly a major part of one of the most lucrative illegal visa scams in history—while he was employed at the US consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, he had a side business rubber-stamping fraudulent visa applications for paying clients fed to him by a Vietnamese-American family, a gig that netted nearly $10 million all together according to the Department of Justice.
