Ilhem Allagui is an Associate Professor of Strategic Communication at Northwestern University in Qatar where she teaches public relations and integrated marketing communications courses. She holds a Ph.D. in communication sciences (2006) from University of Montreal, Canada. Her research interests include public relations and advertising, Internet usage and adoption in the Middle East and North Africa region as well as the political economy of the Internet in the Arab region. Allagui published works about political and socio-cultural transformations in the Arab region, Arab Internet history, strategic communication practices in the MENA region, and other works that include the role of new media in the MENA region’ social transformations. Prior to her academic experience, Dr. Allagui’s professional experience includes Advertising/PR agency experience as well as Internet industry experience in Montréal. Dr. Allagui serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Communication (USC) and as a reviewer for several academic journals.
