Hannan Hussain is an Assistant Researcher at the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI), and an author. He is also a contributing writer on international security for CGTN. 

Hussain’s research interests include South Asian security, dispute resolution in the Gulf, and US-China diplomatic transitions. His research and analytical papers include Re-examining the Centrality of Pakistan-U.S. ties to South Asia (Journal of Current Affairs, 2020), Economic Recovery in a Pandemic: The Case for the Trans-Tasman Travel Corridor (Cornell Policy Review, forthcoming), China’s Approach to the US-Iranian Divide: Lessons in Autonomous Statecraft (upcoming 2020), and Universal Healthcare and Financial Equity: Inside Pakistan’s Sehat Sahulat Program (IPRI Kaleidoscope Book Series, Vol. 1, 2019). 

Hussain’s writings on world affairs have featured alongside former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, World Bank President David Malpass, Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, and former Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr. He has been published in the South China Morning Post, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Express Tribune (partner of The International New York Times), CGTN America, The Diplomat, and The News International.  

Hannan is a recipient of the Fulbright scholarship, and studies Public Policy at the University of Maryland, College Park.
