Olivia Chavez is currently the Graduate Fellow for the Public Diplomacy Council. Originally from San Diego, she majored in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on English, Political Science, and International Security and Conflict Resolution receiving her bachelor's degree from San Diego State University in 2016.
In 2017 the Peace Corps invited Olivia to serve as a Primary Literacy Educator in the Eastern Caribbean, specifically on the island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. In this role, she not only carried out projects related to literacy but developed a STEM program and other secondary activities focused on project-based learning and marine education. She served in the Peace Corps from 2017-2019 having returned to the United States a year ago.
As a young professional she is interested in the field of public diplomacy, international education, and the role of cross-cultural communication in foreign policy. Olivia is a graduate student at American University pursuing an M.A in Political Communication as a Coverdell Fellow in the School of Public Affairs.
