Lisa Tam (Ph.D., Purdue University) is Senior Lecturer in Advertising and Public Relations at QUT Business School (Queensland University of Technology). Her research on public diplomacy explores the dynamics of power and influence between countries and foreign publics as well as the roles of diplomats and diplomatic agencies in facilitating such dynamics. Her most recent publications on public diplomacy conceptualize and operationalize the concepts of power mutuality and power discrepancy, emphasizing the importance of a country's relational acts (such as listening and the pursuit of mutual benefits) in its diplomatic relationships.
