Maliz Mahop is a Global Communication and Partnerships Strategist, Speaker, and Scholar originally from Arlington, Texas. Her extensive professional journey across North America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean has provided her with a unique global perspective, empowering her to be both a cultured storyteller and an effective programming practitioner.
Maliz has delivered keynotes, taught masterclasses, and moderated discussions for institutions, governments, organizations, and conferences including the United Nations, Marist College, the Cannes Film Festival, and U.S. Missions to Nigeria. She is a graduate of Syracuse University, where she studied Communications and Rhetorical Studies, Global Enterprise Technology, and Public Communications. She earned a Master of Science in Global Strategic Communication with a concentration in Digital Media Storytelling from Loyola University Chicago, and a second master’s degree in Public Diplomacy from the University of Southern California. While at USC, Maliz served as Director of Alumni Relations for the Society of Public Diplomats and was part of the editorial team for Public Diplomacy Magazine.
Maliz has coordinated delegations for major organizations including the United Essence Festival of Culture, the National Urban League, and the recently convened Catalyzing Global Change Symposium. Her additional experience includes contributions to productions such as ABC’s Windy City Live and collaborations with brands like Microsoft and Chipotle. She has served as a teaching assistant in the Marketing Department at London Business School and worked with elected officials in the Dallas Independent School District on policy revisions. Maliz has also worked as a strategist for the Oakland Mayor’s Fund for Public Innovation and led partnerships and capacity-building programs for Del-York Group in Lagos, Nigeria, as Head of Global Communication and Partnerships.
