Giulia Rocca was a research intern with the Center for Public Diplomacy, working with professor Jian Wang on a project concerning the role of China's use of soft power via the establishment of Confucius Institutes (CI). She was also the president of the USC Annenberg School for Communication Master's Association (ASCMA), where she helps to create academic and social events that help enhance the graduate student experience at Annenberg. Through the ASCMA Giulia is working to launch a new signature event for the organization called "Inside the Annenberg Studio" which will allow students to meet and discuss various topics with professors.
Giulia was currently a master's degree candidate in the dual degree Global Media and Communication Program; she spent the 08-09 school year at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and graduated from USC's Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism. She was also her Global Class Representative at USC, where she helped to coordinate events for students in her program. Her interests include languages, travel and different cultures, especially, Chinese culture and language.
Giulia graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2008 with triple B.A.s in Spanish, Chinese and East Asian Studies. She has spent numerous summers studying, traveling and teaching English in China, and hopes to return to work in China someday.
