John Nahas graduated from the University of Southern California in 2006 with bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Communication with an emphasis on American media, government and society, as well as Middle East politics.
Currently, John is in his second and final year of the Master of Public Diplomacy program at USC. His focus and areas of interest are U.S. - Middle East politics and their role in foreign policy and public diplomacy. In particular, John is interested in the way public diplomacy is used, and can be utilized, to further cooperation and understanding by different global actors, whether they are governments, multinational corporations, or non-governmental agencies.
This past summer John concluded an internship at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace’s Middle East Center in Beirut, Lebanon. While at Carnegie, John worked on a project focusing on Sovereign Wealth Funds and their emerging role in the international and financial arena. In addition, he collaborated with numerous organizations and individuals regarding Lebanon’s Parliamentary elections this past summer as well as being involved in the Center’s numerous conferences and events.
John is also the President of the Association of Public Diplomacy Scholars (APDS) at USC and is a Senior Editor for Public Diplomacy Magazine. He is currently working on a project focused on International Broadcasting for the Center on Public Diplomacy.
