Laura was the Research Intern for the 2008-09 Public Diplomat in Residence at the USC Center on Public Diplomacy. She completed her B.A. in journalism and political science at the Freie Universität in Berlin, Germany, with a focus on intercultural communication, international relations and conflict resolution. Before starting her graduate studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science in England in 2007, she worked as a TV-journalist and organised the public relations for various TV-shows in Germany.
Coming to the USC in summer 2008 as a Global Media and Communication student, Laura focused on issues of public diplomacy. Her special interests within the field lie in cultural diplomacy as well as global migration and the increasing fragmentation and pluralization of contemporary societies. She focused on gaining a deeper understanding of the processes and issues around the development of a new and coherent EU public diplomacy strategy.
Laura has a classical singing education and is a theatre aficionado with years of experience and practice in the German theatre realm. She speaks English and German fluently and continuously tries to enhance her French, Spanish and Italian.
