Shearon Roberts is an assistant professor of Mass Communication at Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans. She is co-author of the 2014 book Oil and Water: Media Lessons from Hurricane Katrina and the Deepwater Horizon Disaster.

She researches the role of the media in post-conflict and post-disaster communities. Her current work examines how media in Haiti plays are role in international advocacy on behalf of Haitian citizens after the 2010 earthquake.
