Canadian Researchers Join International Fight Against Zika

Government of Canada invests in three teams of Canadian and Latin American and Caribbean scientists to help address unanswered questions about Zika virus [...] “This initiative is key to helping protect populations in the Americas and Canada from Zika and other related diseases. This funding will allow leading researchers from Latin America and Canada to collaborate on cutting-edge research, discovering new knowledge and tools to more rapidly detect, respond and control the virus.”

UK Foreign Minister Visits Somalia, Pledges Drought Aid

British foreign minister Boris Johnson met Somalia's President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed on Wednesday, pledging aid to help combat the effects of a devastating drought, the Somali president's office said. Tillerson’s Quiet Trip to Asia

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson arrives in Asia on Wednesday for his first foreign trip with almost no fanfare. He’s travelling on a “small plane” with “a modest footprint,” says a spokesman. He’s bringing along just one reporter and will hold only one brief press conference during his planned stops in Japan, South Korea and China. It’s a far cry from the splash Hillary Clinton made in February 2009 on her first trip abroad as secretary of state, following a similar itinerary through Asia.
