Omani Cultural Week in Berlin from June 25

At a press conference held at the Ministry of Heritage and Culture yesterday, Khalid bin Salim Al Ghassani, director-general of organisations and cultural relations at the Ministry of Heritage and Culture, said that the Omani Cultural Week will include a number of events that showcase the Sultanate’s rich history and culture. “The Ministry of Heritage and Culture’s organising the Cultural Week comes within the context of maintaining communication and cultural dialogue with the foreign world,” he said.

PM vouches for Bollywood’s ‘soft power’ role

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has envisioned a whole new role for Bollywood, noting India's 'soft power', especially the film industry, can be put to use as an important instrument of foreign policy. "The soft power of India in some ways can be a very important instrument of foreign policy. Cultural relations, India's film industry, Bollywood...I find wherever I go in the Middle East, in Africa, people talk about Indian films," Singh told IFS probationers at his residence.

Syria, France enhance cultural cooperation

Culture Minister Riyad Na'asan Agha on Tuesday discussed with his French counterpart Christine Albanel cultural relations between the two countries and means of developing them. The two sides stressed importance of following up the implementation of the projects which were agreed on earlier, particularly the agreement signed in 2006 between Louvre Museum and the General Department of Ruins and Museums.
