Africa's largest film festival celebrates its 50th anniversary this February and March in Burkina Faso's capital of Ouagadougou, which has seen decades of economic, cosmopolitan and creative transformation that continue today.
The biennial Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO) is a "who's who" for African filmmakers and only accepts films chiefly made in Africa. Some 100,000 people are expected to attend the 450 screenings scheduled for this week at FESPACO, which will bring together content creators from across the continent—not to mention film enthusiasts from around the world—under one roof.
