KEEP READINGCPD Director Quoted in The Layalina Review
CPD Director Philip Seib was recently quoted in an article in The Layalina Review on Public Diplomacy and Arab Media concerning President Obama’s new vision for American foreign policy in the Middle East.
In the article, "New Overture?," Seib's recent piece in The Huffington Post was referenced to demonstrate what the Obama administration needs to focus on in the future of Middle East policy. Seib stated that in order to improve relations in the region, the administration must address the Israel-Palestine conflict, provide support for emerging governments and adjust American public diplomacy to work through the concerns and interests of the region. The article goes on to quote Seib on President Obama saying that "if he emphasizes these three principal topics, President Obama will have a chance to achieve a significant breakthrough in American relations with the Arab world." American public diplomacy can also capitalize on the post-"Arab Spring" environment by utilizing Arab youth's respect for America and addressing their concerns.
