'Panda'-Monium in Malaysia, Washington D.C.

Zookeepers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Washington D.C. celebrated the birth of three giant panda cubs this week. The adult pandas had been loaned to the two capital cities as part of China’s so-called ‘panda diplomacy’ program, an initiative that seeks to foster friendship and diplomatic relations between China and the receiving country. Malaysia’s pandas, Liang Liang and Xing Xing, arrived May 21, 2014 to commemorate 40 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

This video from The Star Online takes viewers inside the Giant Panda Conservation Center in Kuala Lumpur, and offers a look at both the new panda cub as well as the public diplomacy benefits of panda diplomacy for Malaysia and China alike.
