The Road to Diplomacy 3.0

On January 27, 2015 CPD hosted noted author and diplomat Andreas Sandre for a discussion of the evolving role of new media in diplomacy. Highlights from the discussion included an overview of the perils and benefits of real time communication; a commentary on how social media networks and media savvy individuals are reshaping traditional power paradigms; and a continued emphasis on innovation and new ideas in both technology and diplomacy. Sandre concluded that authenticity and originality are essential to developing not just new communication technologies, but also meaningful foreign policy strategies and diplomatic activities.
