Cultural Diplomacy

Burundians in France gathered this weekend to mark the 55th anniversary of their Independence. Celebrations were marked by traditional songs and dances, together with culinary delights from back home.

President Xi Jinping's visit to the Republic of Serbia in mid June deepened the friendship between the two countries but not just diplomatically. Out of the 22 cooperations deals signed by the two countries, one included an agreement for cultural exchange through the power of cinema.

"The opportunity of going to Costa Rica was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I was able to make new friends, witness a different culture, and to expand my knowledge of a new language. I was surprised by how kind everyone was and how everyone took care of each other. I learned that I knew more Spanish than I thought I knew. Going to Costa Rica was enriching and very rewarding," wrote D'Andrea.

Public mobilization follows. People-to-people exchange is strengthened, more Greek people learn Chinese and more Chinese people learn Greek, bilateral or multilateral scientific projects are carried out, joint events are organized and media are cooperating in their day-to-day operations.

The sky over Seoul was bright blue and the lecture hall on the 19th floor had a perfect view of Bukhan Mountain and the Blue House. The room was filled with over fifty Korean diplomats engaged in the field of public diplomacy and cultural diplomacy.

The third Ghana Street Carnival started off here with much enthusiasm over the weekend, with various cultural and artistic groups on parade to showcase the various faces of Ghana's culture, creative arts and entertainment.

From New York to Yokohama, an unstoppable wave of yellow monsters is infiltrating public venues, performing strange rituals and targeting young humans. Having already dominated Japan and conquered a number of overseas markets, the “Pocket Monsters” video game series, now in its 20th year, is entering a new realm: reality.

“We need to look beyond Nigeria to see how art can be promoted globally.  History has bestowed us with artistic materials here and there.  It is for us to do our best to promote those issues to make art more acceptable to the world”. He went on to state that “this exhibition provides us with the opportunity for trans-cultural exchange.
