To showcase India's diverse cultural traditions, the Centre is now all set to expand its pool of artists and performers from different states who can participate in festivals organised abroad to enhance the country's soft power in the global arena.

Through the program, she met a Burmese cook and refugee named Zin Zin, and the two women teamed up to teach classes about nutrition and "the unique challenges of eating healthy in the U.S.," a new country where much of the food available is unfamiliar to refugees from Southeast Asia, Somalia and other strife-torn regions of the world. Funds through grants were extremely limited, though, so Toscano created Fooition as a way to raise money to help continue her mission.

Speaking at the plaque-unveiling ceremony, representative of Portuguese science and technology and higher education minister Joao Queiroz said he believed the new institute would not only make a remarkable contribution to the dissemination of the Chinese language and culture, but would also further deepen the cooperation between Portugal and China.

President Xi Jinping's visit to the Republic of Serbia in mid June deepened the friendship between the two countries but not just diplomatically. Out of the 22 cooperations deals signed by the two countries, one included an agreement for cultural exchange through the power of cinema.

The third Ghana Street Carnival started off here with much enthusiasm over the weekend, with various cultural and artistic groups on parade to showcase the various faces of Ghana's culture, creative arts and entertainment.

“We need to look beyond Nigeria to see how art can be promoted globally.  History has bestowed us with artistic materials here and there.  It is for us to do our best to promote those issues to make art more acceptable to the world”. He went on to state that “this exhibition provides us with the opportunity for trans-cultural exchange. 

Diplomats can only do so much to bridge the divides between their countries and the rest of the world. Good bilateral relations start with strong ties at the governmental level. But as public servants, diplomats operate under significant restraints and there is always a layer of formality that may or may not ever melt. [...] This Sept. 11 marks 60 years since President Dwight D. Eisenhower launched a citizen diplomacy campaign that was initially aimed at improving ties with Japan and Germany through a sister cities initiative.
