Venezuelan delicacies like “arepas” and “tizana” are suddenly all the rage in the streets of Lima, considered the gastronomic capital of Latin America, thanks to the flood of Venezuelans moving to Peru in recent months to escape the deadly economic crisis into which their country has fallen. From students to engineers, from mechanics to reporters, Venezuelans are finding that selling their favorite foods in the streets is the first step toward settling in Peru [.]
Israeli emergency teams have deployed to Peru to support affected communities following floods and mudslides that have eviscerated much of the country’s infrastructure. The Peruvian government said it needed international aid to help hundreds of thousands of people displaced by flash floods and landslides. IsraAID deployed a team to support affected communities in impoverished and remote areas.
The Peruvian Embassy in the United States and the U.S. Congressional Caucus on Peru organized a gastronomic festival at U.S. Parliament headquarters. The meeting was attended by legislators, officials from both chambers and members of the Executive, plus other civil society organizations based in D.C.
Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Peru is set to deepen political mutual trust, consolidate the traditional friendship between the two countries and mark a new milestone in the development of bilateral relations, said Chinese Ambassador to Peru Jia Guide.
During his Peruvian trip, Xi is also scheduled to attend the 24th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in capital Lima. “It is believed that the two ancient civilisations, respectively located on the east and west coast of the Pacific Ocean, will write a new chapter of friendship under the political guidance of the two heads of state,” Jia added.
